Dear Debbie,

Such a sweet name you have.  The National Hurricane Center spells your name Debby, but it’s sweet either way.  It reminds me of a beautiful, sweet girl I knew in high school I lost.  On the drive to our first and only date, we got into a silly argument over religion or politics (can’t remember which).  And she and I being equally opinionated, we never went out again.  Now she’s married, so I’ve lost her forever.

Looking out my sliding-glass door, I see you are grazing us with your presence here in Escambia County, Florida.  And I appreciate this.  Only thing is, Debbie, we were inundated with record-breaking rainfall here, earlier this month.  Any more rain, and we may drown.

So if you have to make landfall at all, please land elsewhere.  Texas can probably use some rain.  Please grace Texas with your presence–then move into New Mexico and Colorado, where you would not only be welcome but highly appreciated.

And wherever you land, and hover, be gentle, be sweet–like America’s Sweetheart.

Wow, those images are a real blast form the past – I remember every single one! But my memory for TV and movie titles isn’t as goo as my memory for images, so I looked her up at Debbie Reynolds – IMDb. Wow again – what a resume!

Best of luck with the tropical storm Scott. I, for one, am glad they used a different spelling for the name. Debbie has way too many sweet memories associated with it! 😀

I have a photo of her and my mom in Las Vegas when Debbie had her casino there.

That is nice! I have an album full of autographed pictures of female celebrities that I got by mail almost twenty years ago. But I have no pictures of me, or any other family member, WITH an actual superstar. So what you have is very precious–I don’t even have to suggest that you hold on to it all your days!

I’ve never really been a fan of Debbie’s. she’s too squeaky clean.

Well, that’s the idea–I want this tropical storm to be as “squeaky clean” as possible. But though I am glad it isn’t heading here, I’m very disappointed that it’s going east instead of west. As I say, Florida doesn’t need anymore rain anywhere. But Texas probably does, and New Mexico and Colorado desperately need it.

She does an amazing stand up routine. Loved her in Will and Grace.
