Another question from Gregory Stock’s book is this:

If you had to fire a problem employee, would you be more inclined to give the minimum or maximum notice possible?  Why?

I’d be more inclined to give the minimum notice possible.

Because the longer this “problem” employee stayed on the job, the longer the problems he or she were causing would continue–in fact they might even worsen.

However, I would be sure to give this employee a generous amount of severance pay, regardless of the circumstances.
