FROM THE BOQ: BUSINESS, POLITICS AND ETHICS #53

Another question from Gregory Stock’s book is this:

Terrorists take a planeload of tourists hostage and threaten to kill them unless a dozen imprisoned comrades are freed.  If you knew that meeting the hijackers’ demands would gain the hostages’ release, what would you vote to do?  Assume you are part of a panel appointed to decide the issue.

Free the terrorists’ imprisoned comrades, and–as soon as the hostages are released, and out of harm’s way–kill the terrorists and their comrades.
