TRY TO LIVE TO SEE THIS

What has death and a thick body dances before what has no thick body and no death.

And the trumpet says, “I am you.”

The spiritual master arrives, and bows down to the beginning student.

Try to live to see this.

Kabir

(Robert Bly translation)

And here is Tagore’s translation of Kabir’s poem:

Before the Unconditioned, the Conditioned dances:
“Thou and I are one!” this trumpet proclaims.
The Guru comes, and bows before the disciple:
This is the greatest of wonders.
