FROM THE 2013 BOOK OF QUESTIONS #14

Another question from Gregory Stock’s book is this:

Do you strive more for security, accomplishment, success, love, power, or excitement?

Accomplishment.

FROM THE 2013 BOOK OF QUESTIONS #13

Another question from Gregory Stock’s book is this:

You’re raising money for a charity and someone agrees to make a large contribution if you perform alone in front of a thousand people at an upcoming fundraiser.  Would you agree?

Yes, I would.

If so, how big a donation, if any, would you require, and what sort of act would you perform?

I wouldn’t require any donation–I’d just accept whatever large contribution were offered.

As for the act I’d perform, I’d read to the audience of a thousand people–prose or poetry written by me, or by another writer/poet–or both.

THERE HAS THE MIND MADE A SWING

Between the poles of the conscious and the unconscious, there has the mind made a swing:

Thereon hang all beings and all worlds, and that swing never ceases its sway.

Millions of beings are there:  the sun and the moon in their courses are there:

Millions of ages pass, and the swing goes on.

All swing!  the sky and the earth and the air and the water; and the Lord Himself taking form:

And the sight of this has made Kabir a servant.

Common interests.

FROM THE 2013 BOOK OF QUESTIONS #11

Another question from Gregory Stock’s book is this:

If what you owned had no bearing on what people thought of you, would you spend your money differently?

No.

FROM THE 2013 BOOK OF QUESTIONS #10

Another question from Gregory Stock’s book is this:

Do you think that high-tech goggles that let you “see through” people’s clothing should be banned?

This one’s just too funny!

Honestly, I didn’t know such goggles existed!

But, assuming they do, I think they should be banned–unless everyone in the world is given a pair!

How much would you pay for glasses that rendered people naked?

Nothing!

Of course there are some women I’d like to see naked–but most people I would not like to see naked!

FROM THE 2013 BOOK OF QUESTIONS #9

Another question from Gregory Stock’s book is this:

If you were locked in a time machine set for a single one-way trip to the past or future and had 10 minutes to dial in the time and place, when and where would you go?

H.G. Wells was right–with a time machine, one could travel only through time, not space.

So a time machine would not take me anywhere but the current location of the machine itself.

That said, if I were locked in a time machine set for a single one-way trip to the past or future and had 10 minutes to dial in the time, I would dial in September 25, 1914, 10:34 p.m.

Why?

I should have been born in 1866, not 1966.  I have never belonged in this time.

What if it were to be a round trip that would include any family and friends you wanted to bring along and safely return everyone in a week?

I wouldn’t bring along anyone–I’d go alone.  And I would choose the future, so that I could return with knowledge of it (and perhaps some very useful souvenirs).  So I’d dial in September 25, 2114, 10:34 p.m.

Another question from Gregory Stock’s book is this:

A large crew is being chosen for an interstellar journey to a distant planet containing the first known extraterrestrial life.  The expedition won’t return for a century, but the crew will be in suspended animation and age only a few years during the trip.  Would you be interested?

Of course I would.
