IT’S JUST INSANE

[This was originally posted February 16, 2016]

“We are one justice away from the Second Amendment being written out of the Constitution altogether…”

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, February 14, 2016

Senator Cruz does have a valid point.

Upon learning of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s death–I was (I am embarrassed and a little bit ashamed to admit) more worried about a potential shift in power to the left in the Supreme Court than saddened by Justice Scalia’s death.

I already know how I’m going to vote in the presidential election this year: I’m going to vote for a true independent presidential candidate (one affiliated with no political party whatsoever)–or for myself, as a write-in.

The only possible way I’d vote otherwise is if the Republican Party were stupid enough to nominate Donald Trump–but I’m reasonably certain it isn’t.

What a mess.

I hope Congress sticks to its guns (no pun intended)–and absolutely blocks any nomination for the U.S. Supreme Court by President Obama.  Because President Obama is liberal as hell–and we have got to have a conservative Supreme Court justice replace the late Antonin Scalia.

And though I wish my fellow Americans would wise up, and elect an honest-to-God independent President of the United States–the first since George Washington–I would rather them elect a Republican candidate (Donald Trump is not a Republican, but a totally self-serving, sociopathic impostor) than a Democratic one.  Because a Republican president would be more likely to nominate a conservative Supreme Court justice than a Democratic president would.  And this is because the Republican Party–though it has begun to shift to the left, in an unprecedented manner–is still the more conservative party.

And the last conservative Democratic President of the United States was John F. Kennedy.

Nevertheless, it is imperative that Southern American Republican voters stop this cultural genocide of the American South that was begun by Republican South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley–and is being continued by largely Republican governors, state legislators, county/parish commissioners, and mayors all over the Southern United States–as an attempt to divert all attention away from the issue of gun regulation.

We do not have to choose between our right to keep and bear arms and every other right guaranteed us in our Bill of Rights–we can keep all of our rights.

And through state and local politicians, the Republican Party has begun targeting red herrings–first the Confederate Flag, then Islam–and will continue to do so, with each mass shooting.

And there will be more mass shootings.

Because it is not guns that are causing these mass shootings–but a plethora of factors contributing to the deterioration of our society.

And though state and local politicians can help reduce these mass shootings by tightening certain gun regulations in their state and local jurisdictions–it is their business if they don’t.

But it is not their business, nor their right to target red herrings representing other rights guaranteed us in our Bill of Rights, in order to avoid any discussion of our right to keep and bear arms.

The Confederate Flag is representative of our right to freedom of speech–and an infringement on it is an infringement on our right to freedom of speech.

And Islam is representative of our right to freedom of religion–and an infringement on it (by discriminating against Muslims) is an infringement on our right to freedom of religion.

And though it is our largely Republican state and local governments infringing on our rights–not our federal government–our rights are being whittled away, slowly and strategically, just the same.

It’s not enough to accept the entire Democratic package–Democratic voters must hold the Democratic Party accountable for those policies and practices of which they do not approve.

And likewise, it’s not enough to accept the entire Republican package–Republican voters must hold the Republican Party accountable for those policies and practices of which they do not approve.

And I strongly doubt that most Southern Republican voters approve of the Republican Party’s cultural genocide of the American South through largely Republican state and local governments.

This cultural genocide of the American South is not conservative at all.  It’s not even progressive or liberal.  It’s just insane.
