GOOD WARS

The War on Poverty was never won before the War on Crime was begun.

The War on Crime was never won before the War on Drugs was begun.

The War on Drugs was never won before the War on Terror (mostly in our collective imagination) was begun.

The War on Terror (mostly in our collective imagination) was never won before the War on Obesity was begun.

The War on Obesity was never won before the War on Climate Change was begun.

So there’s more poverty than ever before, more crime than ever before, more drug addiction than ever before, more terror (mostly in our collective imagination) than ever before, more obesity than ever before, and of course more climate change than we can comprehend.

Why don’t we abandon these wars we cannot win, and start wars we can?

Let’s start a war on ignorance.

Let’s start a war on apathy.

Let’s start a war on complacency.

We can win a war on ignorance.

We can win a war on apathy.

And we can win a war on complacency.

And once we win the War on Ignorance, the War on Apathy, and the War on Complacency–we’ll probably have a lot less poverty, a lot less crime, a lot less drug addiction, a lot less terror (real or imagined), a lot less obesity, and a lot more ammunition to endure this inevitable climate change.
