YOU SHOULD BE TIRED OF IT TOO

ON JUNE 17, 2015, DYLANN ROOF MURDERED NINE PEOPLE AT MOTHER EMANUEL A.M.E. CHURCH IN CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA.

I AM SO TIRED OF BEING PUNISHED FOR HIS CRIME.

AMERICAN FLAGS

We expect our American troops to defend our current American Flag against all foreign enemies.

But if we don’t defend our historical American Flags against all domestic enemies, how can we be worthy of our American troops?

A DIFFERENT APPROACH

Subject: FROM SCOTT MAYO, RE TWO ONLINE PETITIONS I HAVE STARTED

I appreciate your time and consideration, in reading this email.

For a long time now, I’ve been very concerned about the direction our country, the United States, is taking.

Since 2012, I’ve been especially concerned about the destructive impact that unrestrained Digital-Age technology—particularly cellular technology (cellphones and smartphones) and social media (Facebook, Twitter, et al)—is having on our country.

And since June 22, 2015, I’ve been especially concerned about an ongoing trend of state and local politicians censoring their constituents’ historical flags, and destroying their constituents’ historical monuments—without their constituents’ consent.  This posthumous extermination of the Confederate States of America is destructive to the United States of America—and I have been doing all I can to bring awareness to it, and to elicit the help of my fellow Southern Americans, my fellow Americans, and my fellow human beings worldwide, in stopping this destructive trend.

I have started two petitions on the website, Change.org, on which I would appreciate your adding your signature to mine.

The first is to President Trump, requesting that he remove Nikki Haley from his presidential cabinet—because Nikki Haley is the initial perpetrator of this posthumous extermination of the Confederate States of America, and because Nikki Haley is being rewarded for her exploitation of a mass murder.

The second is to Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward and the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners to return the First Confederate Flag to its rightful place in Pensacola’s Five-Flags Displays—the historical flags displays of the five nations under which Pensacola, Florida, has lived and thrived.  These local politicians have censored the First Confederate Flag from our historical flags displays since June 24, 2015—without our consent.  They have not even let us vote on this.

Our country, the United States of America, is in serious danger of self-destruction.  The sociopolitical chaos our country is experiencing in this Digital Age is unprecedented in its history.  And this sociopolitical chaos—driven by unrestrained Digital-Age technology—is spreading all over our world.

Most of us seem to be pretending that everything is fine—as if our country’s problems will simply go away if we ignore them.  But this is never the case—no country’s problems simply go away, as if by magic.

Many of us are quite aware of the danger posed to our country, but feel so powerless to do anything about it that we just give up—we just do nothing, and look forward to our deaths, or to a Biblical event that will require no action on our part.

Of course, neither of these approaches is ever effective.

We can turn our country—and our world—around.  But we can only do this together—and with small, incremental actions.

And signing online petitions is a way of taking small, incremental actions together.

Please click on the links below, and—unless either of these petitions is against everything you believe in—add your signature to these online petitions.  Your signature will be greatly appreciated—perhaps more than you know.

HISTORY, CIVICS, AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY PART 3

HISTORY, CIVICS, AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY PENSACOLA’S FIVE-FLAGS DISPLAYS

SAY NO TO CENSORSHIP

On June 24, 2015, Republican Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward censored the First Confederate Flag from Pensacola’s Five-Flags Displays.  He did this without the consent of his constituents.

Mayor Hayward stated, in a press release:

“While the Confederate Flag undeniably represents a part of Pensacola’s history, to many it is a painful symbol of racial hatred and intolerance.”

Mayor Hayward didn’t mention that the “Confederate Flag” he had censored was not the Confederate Battle Flag—but the First Confederate Flag.  This flag:

On June 25, 2015, Escambia County Democratic Women’s Club President Dianne Krumel made this demand of the Escambia County Commission:

“I understand the flags are down, but I want to make it permanent.  I don’t want any chance of those flags going back up.”

All five members of the Escambia County Commission—Republican Doug Underhill, Republican Grover C. Robinson IV, Republican Steven Barry, Republican Wilson Robertson (whose seat is now occupied by Republican Jeff Bergosh), and Democrat Lumon May—gave in to Dianne Krumel’s demand, and chose to keep the First Confederate Flag censored from Pensacola’s Five-Flags Displays.  They did this without the consent of their constituents—including me.

This government-imposed censorship of the First Confederate Flag, from our historical flags displays, continues—without our consent.

Yet now there is a way you can help me put a stop to this government-imposed censorship of our historical flags displays here in Greater Pensacola, Florida—and you don’t even have to be a resident of Greater Pensacola, Florida, to do it.

I’ve started an online petition to have the First Confederate Flag returned to its rightful place in Pensacola’s Five-Flags Displays:

https://www.change.org/p/pensacola-mayor-ashton-hayward-and-the-escambia-county-board-of-county-commissioners-return-the-first-confederate-flag-to-its-rightful-place-in-pensacola-s-five-flags-displays

Are you as opposed to government-imposed censorship as I am?

Then click on the link above, and sign the petition—and together we can say no to censorship.

RE: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Congressman Gaetz,

I know you didn’t send this email—it was sent by a robot.

But I hope somehow you can see this reply.

My Thanksgiving is miserable—in part because of some sociopolitical problems that are worsening by the minute, problems that you can probably do something to  help solve.

Congressman  Gaetz, willfully distracted drivers are getting away with murder in Florida because the politicians in Tallahassee refuse to pass any laws restricting mobile usage while driving.  A “law” against texting while driving—as a secondary offense—is not a law.

Please use your power and influence to persuade the Florida State Government to move texting while driving from a secondary-offense position to a primary-offense position—at the very least.  Please do something to stop this slaughter on our roads and highways—the death toll of which keeps rising.

Congressman Gaetz, the posthumous extermination of the Confederate States of America is destructive to the United States of America.

The local politicians here—namely Ashton Hayward, Doug Underhill, Grover C. Robinson IV, Steven Barry, Wilson Robertson (whose seat is now occupied by Jeff Bergosh), and Lumon May—have censored our First Confederate Flag from our Five-Flags Displays (Pensacola’s historical flags displays), since June 24, 2015.  Congressman Gaetz, our First Confederate Flag is still censored from our Five-Flags Displays—and we have never even been allowed to vote on this.

Please use your political power and influence to persuade these local politicians to cease and desist this government-imposed censorship—this local-government infringement on the First-Amendment right to freedom of speech of all Escambia County, Florida, residents, of all races and ethnicities.

Also, please use your political power and influence to persuade the Florida State Government to pass a law, similar to the one the government of my home state of Alabama has passed, protecting all Confederate memorial monuments from removal or destruction by anyone—especially by politicians.

Finally, Congressman Gaetz, because the Dishonorable Nikki R. Haley perpetrated this posthumous extermination of the Confederate States of America, I hate her with all my heart.  This is my problem.

Yet because the Dishonorable Nikki R. Haley exploited the mass murder committed by Dylann Roof, for her political career—from June 22 through July 9, 2015—she is ultimately guilty of the same crime as Dylann Roof.  And this is America’s problem.

And because the Incompetent Donald Trump has chosen to put the Dishonorable Nikki R. Haley in his presidential cabinet—and to keep the Dishonorable Nikki R. Haley in his presidential cabinet—the Incompetent Donald Trump is rewarding the Dishonorable Nikki R. Haley for her criminal exploitation of Dylann Roof’s crime.  And this is humanity’s problem.

Please use your political power and influence to persuade the Incompetent Donald Trump to remove the Dishonorable Nikki R. Haley from his presidential cabinet (by doing so, President Trump can prove that he is not so incompetent anymore).

And if you use your political power and influence for good—by carrying out these urgently needed sociopolitical actions—my next Thanksgiving, as well as the next Thanksgiving of all good Americans, will not likely be miserable at all.

FLAG MEME FOR PENSACOLIANS

IF THIS FLAG OFFENDS YOU, YOU NEED A HISTORY LESSON.

IF THIS FLAG DOES NOT OFFEND YOU JUST A LITTLE BIT, YOU NEED A HISTORY LESSON.

IF THIS FLAG DOES NOT OFFEND YOU A LOT, YOU NEED A HISTORY LESSON.

IF THIS FLAG DOES NOT OFFEND YOU A LOT, YOU NEED A HISTORY LESSON.

IF THIS FLAG DOES NOT OFFEND YOU A LOT, YOU NEED A HISTORY LESSON.

IF THIS FLAG DOES NOT MAKE YOU MAD AS HELL, YOU MOST DEFINITELY NEED A HISTORY LESSON.

PROUD DESCENDANT OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS

Pensacola City Council,

For God’s sake, vote that our Confederate memorial monument is left alone—and in peace.

Our Confederate memorial monument belongs to all of us residents of Escambia County, Florida—of all races and ethnicities.  It does not belong to the Pensacola City Council, and it damned sure doesn’t belong to the Despotic Mayor Ashton Hayward.

Our Confederate memorial monument is too old and fragile to be moved—any attempt to move it will result in its destruction.

On June 24, 2015, Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward censored the First Confederate Flag from Pensacola’s historical flags displays.  He did this without the consent of his constituents.

On June 25, 2015, all five Escambia County Commissioners chose to keep the First Confederate Flag censored from Pensacola’s historical flags displays.  They did this without the consent of their constituents—including me.

I live just down the street from the censored Five-Flags display in front of the Osceola Municipal Golf Course.  So every time I leave my residence, I have to see this gross infringement on our First-Amendment right to freedom of speech.  And every time I return to my residence, I have to see this gross infringement on our First-Amendment right to freedom of speech.  And I am so goddamned tired of being forced to look at this local-government censorship.

Yet that flag can be restored, once Republican Ashton Hayward, Republican Doug Underhill, Republican Grover C. Robinson IV, Republican Steven Barry, Republican Jeff Bergosh, and Democrat Lumon May are voted out of office—and hopefully into political oblivion.

That monument cannot.

We cannot let Ashton Hayward do to Pensacola what Mitch Landrieu has done to New Orleans—we simply cannot.

And I am counting on you to see that what has happened in New Orleans will not happen here.

See to it that our Confederate memorial monument is left alone—and in peace.
