“OUR MONUMENTS REPRESENT ALL WE’VE DONE AND HOW FAR WE’VE COME!”

Freedom to embrace all monuments

“‘Throw it away,’ says the mayor.  ‘Let it be,’ says this twice-awarded Purple Heart, Mustang Marine, who fought for freedom and country!  I graduated from the ‘old’ Pensacola High School (Class of 1948).  It was located across the street from Lee Square.  Pensacola is ‘America’s First City’ and Palafox Street is one of the ‘Ten Best Streets in America.’  How is the removal of this heritage monument going to affect the city’s reputation?  This monument stands in honor of fallen men and women who fought for their cause.  It will be starting a dangerous precedent, because this madness could start a tidal wave washing down Palafox and washing over to the Wall South, removing all our monuments!

“We need to remember this great country was founded on diversity and our monuments represent all we’ve done and how far we’ve come!  Let’s look forward and embrace our freedom to have all monuments, not just a few chosen ones.  Now is the time for sensible leadership to demand the mayor and all the council to stop this reckless behavior!”
